Woman arrested after gunshot at local fast food joint

Police arrest a woman after a shooting incident inside a local McDonald’s.

Shawna Ellis, 32, was taken into custody. Ellis is currently awaiting arraignment.

The incident happened just before 7:00 p.m. Thursday at McDonald’s in the 4300 block of Peach Street.

According to Erie police, Ellis walked into the restaurant and pointed a gun at her alleged ex and the woman he was with. Ellis fired one bullet but no one was hit, police said.

She reportedly tried to fire another bullet but the gun jammed. She then pistol-whipped the other woman before leaving the scene. The victim was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

“This individual walked into a fast food restaurant and fired a bullet. Obviously there were customers in that area so that’s very concerning. It was put on the highest level for us to find her and we were able to do that and she is now under arrest. said Rick Lorah, Erie’s deputy police chief.
