We tried the best rated fast food cafe in Skegness and came away with ringing ears
We were looking for the best rated fast food in Skegness – so we checked TripAdvisor to see how they ranked each place for a quick bite.
Trawler’s Catch came out on top – and people seemed to really like its burgers, so we decided to see what it was all about.
Anyone who’s been to Skegness will know Trawler’s Catch – it has animatronic pirates above its huge panel while jokes (mostly pirate puns) blast through its speakers.
Although it is primarily a fish and chip shop, it does have burgers, pizzas and meat donate on its menu.
However, we couldn’t get any of these items, as he only sells his full menu on weekends.
I didn’t want plain fish and chips so I asked what they could offer me, ie pie and chips or chicken and chips.
I went with the first (chicken and mushroom) – there’s something about getting chicken from a chippy who just doesn’t feel right.
I had it with sauce and felt like there was a lot more than the picture suggests.
The decor of the place was just chaotic. There are sharks, guns and nets everywhere and it’s perfect for kids.

However, if you’re looking for a quiet meal while eating your fast food, this probably isn’t the place for you, as it’s probably the noisiest fast food restaurant I’ve been to.
The pirate-pun loudspeaker is particularly noticeable and I dread to think how chaotic it gets in the summer.
In terms of fast food, Skegness doesn’t have an array of options. Fish and Chips aside, there’s a McDonalds, KFC and very little else – so Trawler’s Catch isn’t competing with many.
Overall it was ok, but when something tops a tripadvisor listing you expect more.
Global mark : 3/5
Food hygiene: 3/5
The damage: Pie and chips (£4.70) and Fanta Zero (£1.20)
