The famous Mexican street food restaurant Banbury will close in the city center
Ilja Abbatista, the owner of Taquero Banbury in North Bar Street, posted a message on Facebook about the closure, which read: “After six years of being Little Amsterdam and then transforming Taquero for a year, I have decided to move on. in a different career path, I will pursue another passion of mine and venture into interior design.
“It was an amazing experience and I met some great people. I got the chance to work alongside some fantastic staff members who also became close friends.
“There were laughs, lots of tears, stress and sleepless nights. It was a privilege to be part of people’s life journey, some happy and some sad. From the proposals to the last meals and for some the whole a life. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for learning from you and becoming a better person myself. Now is the time for me to move on. I have some good news though.”
Ilja confirmed that someone has bought her restaurant and will soon be opening a new restaurant in the same location.
She added: “There will be a new restaurant to replace Taquero. A very talented chef will take over and you are in for a treat. I will tell you more in due time.
“Thank you again for all your support over the past seven years. I wish you all the best of luck and hope to see you again.”
