Retro fast food favourite, Wimpy, opens in Tonbridge
Popular vintage fast food brand Wimpy will open a restaurant in Tonbridge. The brand will be familiar to many people, who may have enjoyed the “Wimpy experience” when they were younger.
As Kent Live reported five years ago, Wimpy had not entirely disappeared from the high streets, but its decline at the time from 500 to 80 branches was blamed on the rise of McDonald’s. In 2017, a Wimpy spokesperson said it had “exciting plans” for expansion and investment.
He now has eight Wimpys in Kent, including Maidstone, Ashford, Dartford and Strood. And Tonbridge will add to this number and permission to put up the distinctive illuminated signs is being sought from Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council.
