New Southern comfort food restaurant, Claudine, will open near Pearl on October 12
SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio couple behind Little Em’s Oyster Bar and Up Scale are opening their third restaurant on Government Hill near the Pearl.
Beginning October 12, the restaurant will serve customers Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The menu features Southern comfort food classics with a French twist. Pork chops in sweet tea brine, grilled oysters, frog legs and okra are a few options that customers can opt for.
Owners Emily and Houston Carpenter have breathed new life into the once forgotten historic 2,000 square foot building at 517 East Grayson Street.
“The house was originally owned by a Swiss brewery worker, August Filleman, and his wife Mary,” according to instagram. “They bought the land in 1910 for $150. Since then, the house has housed several families, then stood empty in 2013.”
Now that the renovations are complete, Emily and Houston Carpenter are excited to share their new business with the San Antonio community.
“After a complete renovation of a once forgotten home, we look forward to serving you,” owners Emily and Houston said on instagram.
