New Indian street food restaurant and bar Indian Rooster opens in former bookmakers Clarendon Park

Foodies living in and around Clarendon Park have a new local place to visit as Indian street food restaurant and bar Indian Rooster has opened for the first time. The new restaurant has launched at 80 Queens Road, in the unit that was once a betting shop.

We walked in for a spin. And as you can see in our photo gallery below, the premises have undergone quite a transformation.

Indian Rooster was started by Vimal Rana, who already owns and runs The Royal Indian and Indian Rooster in Melton Road, Leicester, as well as a catering business. Vimal told LeicestershireLive he aims to provide “authentic Indian street food with a touch of sophistication”.

While Indian Rooster’s Melton Road branch is more of a take-out, the Queens Road branch has a larger seating area, allowing more customers to eat their food on the premises. According to Vimal, the food is cooked to order by him and his team of chefs using a charcoal grill.

Indian Rooster specializes in grilled meats and seafood, with signature dishes such as spicy prawns and chicken karmos – a popular dish in Vimal’s hometown of India, he said. Also on the menu are artisan burgers, all with Indian flavors, fresh naans, curries and Indochinese street food, like chicken lollipops and chilli paneer.

There are many vegetarian options, from vegetarian kebabs to vegetarian curries. Indian Rooster is open from 10:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily.
