New Edinburgh health food restaurant opens near Princes Street
Edinburgh city center is about to host a branch of the famous Kauai health food restaurant.
Kauai, based on a vegan and vegetarian concept of healthy eating created by Hawaiian surfers decades ago, is already home to a venue on Forrest Road in Edinburgh – a staple for a cool breeze for visitors to the Meadows area.
This is the perfect place to grab a bite to eat for a healthy breakfast, lunch or dinner as they are open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. Think hot bowls filled with grains, vegetables and protein, wraps filled with toppings and superfood smoothies – although we’re all about their bowls of chocolate porridge (no added guilt).
Now the restaurant has teased fans with clues to its new location – and eagle-eyed foodies have taken notice.
A stone’s throw from Princes Street (literally), the new Kauai takes over the old Italian restaurant Martone at the top of Leith Street (although its official address is 1 Waterloo Place), just opposite the new St James Quarter.
The health food restaurant shared a photo of a staff member posing with a “for rent” sign above the property and another of a set of keys outside the downtown venue.
One Instagram user wrote: “All my dreams in a bowl of chocolate porridge 5 minutes from my door!”
Another added: “Happy Days, up Leith Street! Right next to my office … if I ever come back !!”.
