Mediterranean buffet-style restaurant plans first local CA in Cerritos

CERRITOS, CA — Dimassi’s Mediterranean Buffet, with multiple locations across Texas specializing in Mediterranean and Halal cuisine, will open its first California restaurant in May at the Cerritos Towne Center in Cerritos.

The new restaurant is moving into the former site of Mimi’s Cafe across from TGI Fridays on Towne Center Drive, according to management.

Dimassi’s offers catering options and individual meals to go, as well as its lunch and dinner buffets with selections such as spinach pie, falafel, tabbouleh, Greek salad, grape leaves, hummus and baba ghanouge (eggplant) , soups, rice dishes, chicken and beef skewers, roast lamb, cooked and fried white fish, as well as desserts such as baklava, biscuits with jam and rice pudding.

Dimassi’s, a family-owned and first-operated business, opened in 1992 in Texas with the goal of introducing the state to “authentic, delicious and healthy Halal and Mediterranean cuisine,” according to the owners. The company now operates restaurants in Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston McAllen and San Antonio.

Pricing and times are yet to be announced for the Cerritos location. In Texas, company buffet prices range from $15.69 per person for lunch, $16.62 for dinner, $19.39 for Friday night and weekend buffets, $8.99 $ for children and $8.99 per pound for individual takeout orders.
