The Last to Say Goodbye to Glasgow is a lunchtime favorite – and customers are sad to see it go.

Martha’s has been serving healthy food from scratch for seven years on St Vincent Street and wowed students when it opened a pop-up store on Byres Road a few years later.

But the owner took to Facebook to announce the sad news that the business would be shutting down immediately.

The message read: “It is a very sad day for me and my excellent staff, but after a series of unfortunate circumstances and bad luck with the expansion plans, our financial situation has deteriorated to a point where I cannot. no longer run the business.

“I must assume my responsibilities as manager and cease my activities with immediate effect. Steps have also been taken to put the company into liquidation.

“It may come as a shock to many of you and I can only thank you for all the support you have given me over the 7 years and 9 months that we have negotiated.

“The team enjoyed making new friends and sharing the love of food with all of you and I hope we brought a colorful and healthy flavor to your world.”

It ended: “Martha’s was my first business in the hospitality industry and it has been a joy to see thousands of people enjoy Martha’s every week over the years.

“I set the bar high and the plan was to have a lot more of Martha, but that dream unfortunately did not come to fruition. I have only the greatest respect and praise for successful people. in this enterprise.”

The latest closure follows the closure of a number of prominent restaurants and bars in recent months, from So LA to Ho Wong and

Martha’s Farewell will leave two prime locations open in West Glasgow and the City Center – we’ll be on the lookout for whatever comes next for those locations.
