Jamaican restaurant Soul Food Flavors of the Isle to open at Findlay Market | Food News | Cincinnati
Findlay Market welcomes a new member of the family, Flavors of the Isle, into its fold.
The “new” vendor was already bringing Jamaican flavor to avid foodies as a member of the Outdoor Market and Findlay Kitchen, a non-profit organization supporting local food entrepreneurs. Flavors of the Isle is now moving into a new, more permanent home opposite the Market House in Over-the-Rhin which will open to the public on October 8th.
Flavors of the Isle is a Jamaican restaurant and bar specializing in the famous Jamaican jerk chicken and owned by Detroit native and long-time Cincinnati resident Ebony Williams. Upon moving to Cincinnati in 2000, Williams discovered that there were only a small number of ethnic restaurants and, according to the restaurant websiteshe created Flavors of the Isle to help address this shortage.
A grand opening celebration will be held at 10 a.m. on October 8. There will be free samples, guest speakers, a prayer and a performance by the Nasti Nati Brass Band. At 1 p.m. that day, Saveurs de l’île will open its doors to the public. Customers will receive free rice and peas (another Jamaican favorite) with any purchase.
Flavors of the Isle is located at 1807 Elm St., Over-the-Rhine. To learn more about Flavors of the Island, visit flavorsofttheisle.com.
