Indian street food restaurant celebrates opening in Devizes
A brand new restaurant has opened in the heart of Devizes – and the staff celebrates after an extremely busy first day of business.
Naan Guru in Brittox has already proven popular with locals.
It’s a colorful exterior, created thanks to Brighton-based artist Sean Lyons, attracted the attention of many passers-by.
Claudia Serrano-Davey, director of Naan Guru, said the first day was busy.
“People were really excited and I think they liked the chance to try something very different,” she said.
“It was really good, people were big fans of our breakfast dishes and then lunch was busy too. The tikka naan chicken wrap has been the most popular so far today.
Claudia and the rest of the team, which includes Alex Joll and John Serrano-Davey, drew inspiration from around the world.
The menu celebrates flavors and food from all over India and around the world, and the street food scene slightly closer to Bristol.
The Naan Guru himself, John, explained that there would be other additions to his menu to come, such as an onion bhaji waffle.
He was inspired by his travels around the world and is eager to present his creations to a Devizes and wider audience.
In addition to the more traditional curry pots and samosas, other menu items include naan wraps and naan pizzas.
The eccentric Full English Naan also proved to be a popular item on the menu.
Alex, who also owns a cafe in Trowbridge, brought a variety of freshly baked pies to the menu.

He said: “John is behind the menu and loves curries very much. I’ve been working with him for a while to put the concept and the map together, and then Claudia joined him in running the place.
“I had heard about the plans for the rum bar next door and thought it sounded fun, so we thought we would give it a try here.
“I hope this brings a fun vibe to Devizes, and something a little different.”
