Indian street food restaurant and bar Rickshaw & Co will open in the West End next month

A new restaurant and bar, Rickshaw and Co, is set to bring Indian roadside cafe culture to Glasgow’s West End with the opening of its first venue next month.

Over two years in development, the sprawling space is spread over two floors, with a 120-seat restaurant mezzanine, an outdoor terrace and a stylish café-bar serving colorful cuisine and exotic drinks.

Located in the West End in the former Hyde cocktail bar, Rickshaw & Co will offer a modern perspective on street food from the bustling food markets of India and Bangladesh.

Drawing inspiration from their childhood and travels, co-owners Tushar Ahmed and Gulshan Soni want to bring the amazing flavors, colors and culture of India to create a new casual dining experience in Glasgow.

The new Indian restaurant will open in the West End of Glasgow.

‘Way of life’

Speaking about the upcoming launch, Tushar Ahmed said, “Street food is a way of life in India. From roadside rickshaws to local delicacies, our team works hard to create a space where you’ll soak up the sensations, aromas and flavors of Bombay in Dhaka.

“Whether you want to enjoy a savory snack or a cocktail, at street-style fuchka – India’s most popular roadside item, our contemporary all-day menu offers a tantalizing discovery of dishes and something for everyone.

“We promise to take you on a journey at Rickshaw & Co. From the moment you step into our bold interiors to the sensory explosion of our small plates, we’re thrilled to launch our vision later this spring.”

The Rickshaw & Co team is also looking for talented people to join their team. They are looking to create 20 new jobs in the area with their first opening.
