Jollibee is set to open its East Dallas location in Lower Greenville.

The Filipino fast food restaurant requested a occupancy certificate at 4703 Greenville Ave.

Jollibee will have drive-thru and be housed in the former Jack in the Box near the Greenville-University Boulevard intersection.

There is a North Texas location in Plano and four others throughout Texas.

Jollibee serves popular fast food items such as fried chicken sandwiches and burgers. But they also have a dish called Jolly Spaghetti, which is topped with a sweet sauce loaded with ham, ground meat, and hot dog. There is also a traditional Filipino noodle dish called palabok fiesta, which comes with garlic sauce, sautéed pork, shrimp, and egg.

The restaurant is best known for what it calls chickenjoy, its fried chicken.

Jollibee is part of Jollibee Foods Co., which is Asia’s largest and fastest growing foodservice company in the world, according to Jollibee. Even celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain has eaten here on occasion.

In 2018, the company announced plans to expand its presence in the United States. It had 37 Jollibee stores at the time and had set a goal of having 150 within five years.
