Fast-food chain Roy Rogers to open location in Cincinnati | Food News | Cincinnati
Western themed fast food chain Roy Rogersnamed after the Cincinnati-born actor and cowboy, plans to open a location in Queen City this year.
This historic franchise, founded in 1968, is known for dishes like fried chicken, roast beef sandwiches and its iconic Double R Burger – a quarter pounder topped with American cheese and ham on a Kaiser bun. He also brings his famous “Fixin’s bar” to the local restaurant, allowing customers to top their burgers with their choice of condiments and vegetables.
The new spot is set to open in Kleve in the winter of 2022. This opening is part of a 10-unit catering deal with a local restaurant franchise group One Holland Corporation.
“Cleves is the perfect location for our first Roy Rogers location, as we already have a good relationship with the city and many fantastic employees,” One Holland CEO Gary Holland said in a statement. “Residents have continued to share their excitement since our initial announcement, so we’re working diligently to bring Roy’s famous burgers, beef and chicken to our community.”
The Cleves location is expected to be located next to Skyline Chile across from Taylor High School and will include outdoor dining as well as drive-thru.
“We are encouraged by the enthusiasm of Cleves residents and the decades of success that multi-unit operator Gary Holland brings to the table,” Roy Rogers Franchise Company Co-Chairman Jim Plamondon said in a statement. “This highly anticipated new location is a celebration of our historic restaurant as we reflect on over 50 years of bringing quality, variety and choice to our loyal customers. Be sure to stay tuned for more details regarding the grand opening.
New locations are expected to appear throughout the Cincinnati area, including locations in Hamilton, Butler, and Clermont counties; Boone, Kenton, and Campbell counties in Kentucky; and Dearborn County, Indiana.

This isn’t the first time Cincinnati has been home to a Roy Rogers chain.
Roney’s Restaurant, now located in Milford, opened as Roy Rogers in Union Township in 1969. After the local Rogers chain disbanded, the restaurant changed its name but retained its classic menu items and iconic neon sign. Roney’s closed in 2012 but reopened in 2015 at its current location, where you can still grab a Lucky R Burger (a version of the Double R) and add your own lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion and condiments to the bar of toppings.
