AFTER another tough year, it seems fit to end with a good year-end meal.

One thing most of us have learned during the Covid-19 pandemic is that staying in touch with loved ones will get you through tough times.

Due to the restrictions associated with the pandemic, we have lived for months without being able to meet, mingle and dine outside.

Now is the time to rejoice as good food enjoyed in the company of friends and family is certainly something to look forward to in December.

At the Impiana KLCC Hotel, Executive Chef Mazlee Abdul Rahman has planned what he calls a “colorful Christmas dish”.

“I like the buffets to be colorful with a range of dishes featuring different types of meat, seafood and vegetables.”

Although the hotel is known for its local cuisine, western food will be an important part of the menu to mark Christmas.

The selection of western food is certainly impressive.

Mazlee Cream of Mushroom with a blend of mushrooms such as porcini, buds and shiitake is an earthy and flavorful starter.

To get the most out of mushrooms, Mazlee prefers to roast them before adding them to the pot.

For the roast turkey, the chef coats the poultry in butter instead of olive oil, then bakes it in the oven for a good three hours.

Basing the turkey several times with the cooking juices helps ensure a tasty result and prevents the poultry from drying out.

Charcuterie lovers will appreciate the generous spread.

Other buffet highlights include the roasted rib eye with Yorskhire pudding, mashed potatoes: Milanese beef stew with vegetables, and Kalio Ayam Minangkabau.

Seafood trophy, seared coral snapper with pink pepper cream and caviar, Zuchinne Fritto squid, butter shrimp with curry leaves and egg yolk are other tempting options.

No Christmas spread is complete without dessert, and diners can indulge in chocolate Yule log, Christmas stollen, and Christmas pudding with cream sauce.

“The guests come for the good spread and the good value for money that we offer.

“I believe in serving quality meals instead of having too many dishes at the buffet,” Mazlee said.

Christmas carolers will entertain guests from 7:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve.

There will also be clowns, balloon sculptures and magic tricks to occupy the children as well as a group of two musicians who will liven up that night.

The Christmas Eve Buffet Dinner at the Tonka Bean Cafe & Deli is 6.30 p.m. to 10 p.m., priced at RM 178 net for adults while the Christmas Snack is from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. and priced at $ 148 RM net for adults.

Meanwhile, the New Years Eve buffet, priced at RM178nett (adults), is available from 6.30 p.m. to 10 p.m.
