Cedar Rapids fast food restaurant closes due to understaffing
A Cedar Rapids restaurant that was recently closed on Sunday has now closed its doors completely and menu boards have been diverted from potential customers at the drive-thru.
The Blairs Ferry Road Wendy’s in Cedar Rapids has closed. It’s unclear how long this will last, but a sign on the back door and at the drive-thru says the closure is “due to understaffing.”
A few other signs still remain on the back door. They indicate that the dining room is closed for seating as well as the restaurant’s temporary hours of operation prior to closing.
While many restaurants have recently faced understaffing issues, Blairs Ferry Road Wendy’s online reviews seem to show that this is a persistent problem.
I first discovered Wendy’s as a college girl years ago when I went to my first football game in Iowa in Iowa City with a high school pal and his dad. I remember thinking that day how “fancy” the burgers at Wendy’s looked compared to McDonald’s.
Hopefully the menu boards will soon turn to the drive-thru at this Wendy’s on the northeast side, indicating that they may have reopened near Blairs Ferry Road and Edgewood Road, one of the busiest areas in Cedar Rapids. these days.
