Big Band Buffet a big hit at Test Valley School in Stockbridge

The Big Band Buffet, held at Test Valley School in Stockbridge, was a hit with residents this year.

On Saturday October 29, around 100 people over the age of 55 attended the event, organized by Test Valley Borough Council, to hear live music, enjoy a buffet lunch and learn about services and helpful agencies in the area.

Test Valley Mayor Councilor Alan Dowden was also there to greet people.

Police, fire, NHS, Citizens Advice and the Blue Lamp Trust were among the services providing support and advice to those in attendance.

They spoke on a range of issues, including home security, crime deterrence, social prescription, cost of living support, scams and cybercrime.

Some attendees got up and danced to music played by the Clive Fortune Big Band, which performed songs from the 1930s, 40s and 50s, with some contemporary hits thrown into the mix.

Test Valley Mayor Cllr Alan Dowden said: ‘It was great to see so many people attending the Big Band Buffet this year and to hear such positive feedback about the music, services and food is very enjoyable . These types of events are important for bringing our communities together and talking with residents about what is available in our borough.
