Bap and Burrito fast food restaurant in Gosport will close after seven years
Bap and Burrito in Stoke Road has announced it will close for the last time this Saturday at 2pm.
The family business was started seven years ago by partners Sarah Gunby and Shaz Montasser, but in a long, heartfelt post on the restaurant’s Facebook page, Shaz explained why they decided to close.
The post read, “It wasn’t an easy decision to make, but it’s time for me to step away so I can be with my family.” The hours I work at the shop have taken a lot of memories away from me and with Sarah’s health not improving, it’s time for me to face reality and focus on what’s important in my life. .
“I’m grateful to have had the chance to fulfill my dream and run my own business. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do since I was in school. It’s hard to be in this industry. You work stupid hours with little breaks, some months you won’t be able to pay yourself, you miss family time, you miss your friends and you lose your social life.
The Copnor family rallies Pompey fans to give a one-minute clap for the stillborn baby…
“It’s been a roller coaster ride from the start, but we wouldn’t have gotten this far without the support of our client, friends on my team and family.”
“Your support has been incredible throughout, and Bap and Burrito Bar wouldn’t have made it without it.
“We know we weren’t the best; we know we still had room for improvement, but we gave it our all, every day with the amazing team I had beside me.
After seeing the hundreds of messages from supporters, Sarah added: ‘We both didn’t realize how much of an impact we had, which makes it a lot harder.’
“I just wish things had been different, the only thing that gets me through this week is knowing that for us as a family it’s the right thing to do.”
As previously reported, the company was hit earlier this year by the theft of barrels of cooking oil from behind takeout.
They pointed out that only Bap and Burrito were closing – Sarah’s Buffet Queen business will continue.
