Al Hamra Halal Mediterranean Buffet in Louisville Reopens After 2 Years

Al Hamra Halal Mediterranean Buffet closed almost exactly two years ago on March 16, 2020 when the coronavirus pandemic first spread to the United States

Now the restaurant at 1250 Bardstown Road in Mid City Mall is open again.

Al Hamra is open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and serves all-you-can-eat Mediterranean cuisine.

Prices have remained the same: after 4 p.m. on weekdays and all day on weekends, it’s $16. Lunch specials are offered weekdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for $12, children under 4 eat free and children 5 to 10 eat half price.

Al Hamra offers many vegetarian options in its range of buffets as well as meat dishes. There are salads, dips like hummus, tahini meatballs, chicken shawarma, kebabs, and lamb.

And in a previous review, independent food critic Lindsey McClave said the baklava is “not to be missed” and the baba ganoush and hummus deliver in every way, with the eggplant dip providing a pleasant whisper of smoke while that the hummus was silky smooth with a strong tahini backbone.

Al Hamra Restaurant, at the Mid-City Mall on Bardstown Road in Louisville, offers a buffet of more than 45 Middle Eastern dishes. This dish includes chicken skewer, rice, okra and stuffed grape leaves. November 06, 2019
